herbalife
Herbalife International is a multi-level marketing company that sells nutrition, weight management and skin-care products. The company was founded in 1980, and it employs around 6,200 people worldwide. Herbalife reported net sales o f US$4.072 billion in 2012, an 18% increase over 2011, and net income of $477.19 million, a 16% increase over 2011.[2] Incorporated in the Cayman Islands[1], its corporate headquarters are in Los Angeles, California, United States.[3]
The company distributes its products in 88 countries (as of December 2012) through a network of approximately 3.2 million independent distributors,[1] some of whom earn profit on product sales and additional commission from a multi-level marketing (MLM) compensation structure.
The Commercial Court in Brussels, Belgium, has ruled the company to be an illegal pyramid scheme,[4][5] a decision Herbalife is appealing.[6] The company has been criticized by, among others, hedge fund manager Bill Ackman of Pershing Square Capital, who claimed that Herbalife operates a "sophisticated pyramid scheme"[7][8] after taking a $1-billion short position in Herbalife stock.[9] The company denies the allegations.[10]

Herbalife history
In February 1980, Mark Hughes began selling the original Herbalife weight management product from the trunk of his car. Hughes often stated that the genesis of his product and program stemmed from the weight loss concerns of his mother Joanne, whose premature death he attributed to an eating disorder and an unhealthy approach to weight loss. His goal was to change the nutritional habits of the world.
His first product was a protein shake designed to help people manage their weight. He structured his company using a direct-selling, multi-level marketing model which attracted thousands of distributors (Herbalife Independent Distributors) who sold its products door-to-door or through word-of-mouth, without relying on commercial distribution in retail stores.
The company's slogan, "Lose Weight Now, Ask Me How," became a marketing theme for distributors, featuring heavily on badges, flyers and posters. Early methods to recruit distributors included seminars, which would feature distributors giving health and weight loss testimonials on the Herbalife products and a keynote address by Hughes. By 1982 Herbalife had reached US$2 million in sales and had expanded into Canada.
In 1985, the California Attorney General sued the company for making inflated claims about the efficacy of its products. The company settled the suit for $850,000 without admitting wrongdoing.[11] In 1986 Herbalife became a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ, and in 1996 Herbalife reached US$1 billion in annual sales.
Mark Hughes died at age 44.[12] The Los Angeles County Coroner autopsy results ruled that the entrepreneur had died of an accidental overdose of alcohol and doxepin, an anti-depressant.[13] The company continued to grow after his death and in 2002 was acquired by J.H. Whitney & Company and Golden Gate Capital for US$685 million, who took the company private again.[14]
In April 2003, Michael O. Johnson joined Herbalife as CEO following a 17-year career with The Walt Disney Company, most recently as president of Walt Disney International.[11] On 16 December 2004, the company had an initial public offering on the NYSE of 14,500,000 common shares at $14/share. 2004 net sales were reported as $1.3 billion. In April 2005, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary with a four-day event attended by 35,000 Herbalife Independent Distributors from around the world. In August 2005, Dr. Steve Henig joined the company as Chief Scientific Officer, responsible for product research and development. In 2008, President and COO Greg Probert resigned after it was reported that he had not completed the degree requirements for the MBA he claimed on his resume.[15]
On April 9, 2013, the company's long-time auditor, KPMG, resigned after the KPMG executive who oversaw Herbalife audits admitted to providing insider information to a golfing buddy about at least five companies -- including Herbalife and Skechers. [16] No wrongdoing was alleged against Herbalife.[17] The company hired PricewaterhouseCoopers as its auditor on May 21, 2013. [18]

the above is taken from wikipedia and the below is taken from herbalife website
If you read closely, you will see that it says there are 82,464 Supervisors with downline that :-
30.6% earn $0 (zero) per year (RM0)
47.5% earn between $1 to $1000 per year (less than RM260 per month)
13.7% earn between $1,001 to $5,000 per year (less than RM1,295 per month)
0.7% of the Supervisors earn above US$100,000 per year
(US100,000 divide 12 months = above US$8,334 average per month)
- What does this mean to you? There is a 99.3% chance that you might not succeed.
91.8% of the Supervisors earn $5,000 or less, per year
(US$5,000 divide 12 months = below US$417 average per month)
- What does this mean to you?
In Malaysia, it will cost you between RM17,000 to RM21,000 to become a Supervisor. Looking at the return it can give you, do you feel that this is the business that will make all your dreams come true?

next, we look at the retention rate of supervisors
What the above is saying is that 51.1% of Supervisors DID NOT manage to maintain (re-qualify) their position as a Supervisor.
- What does this mean to you? Well, for a Supervisor to re-qualify, they only need to do 4,000 VP per year. Means an average of 334 VP per month. One Start Now Pack (SNP) equal to 76.85 VP. All that Supervisor needs to do is sell 5 sets of that SNP every month.
Seems simple enough yet strangely over half of the Supervisors were not able to re-qualify. In Malaysia, it cost about RM17,000 to RM21,000 to become a Supervisor. Since more than half failed, you might want to think seriously before joining this business. Do not let your friends or sponsor to pressure you. Take your time to think about it.

Ignorance is not bliss, it is a tragedy
~ by Jim Rohn
THE ABOVE INFORMATION ARE FROM HERBALIFE MALAYSIA. LOG IN YOUR ID AND CHECK IT YOURSELF
So according to the above information, 57.1% of all the Supervisors DID NOT re-qualify in Malaysia. Means they could not even do 4000 VP in one year. That is less than 334 VP per month. OMG. What is wrong with all these people? Is the business really that hard to do? I find this so hard to believe but the information are correct as it is directly from HERBALIFE.
37.8% of Supervisors earn RM0 (zero)
32.6% of Supervisors earn between RM1 to RM2,500 per year (means less than RM208 per month)
16.6% of Supervisors earn between RM2,5001 to RM10,000 per year (means less than RM834 per month).
That is a total of 87% of the Supervisors making no money at all or extremely very little money. Assuming they did a one month qualification to become a Supervisor, means 4,000 VP, which comes to about RM17,000, and they made back so little money in one year? Wouldn't you say that is absolutely ridiculous. If they took more than one month for the qualification, means they purchased 5,000 VP, that would come to over RM20,000.
0.7% of Supervisors earn over RM250,000 per year (means above RM20,000 per month)
- 79 Supervisors out of 11,475 Supervisors made it here.
- this is very strange to me as I know there are more than 100 President Team member plus Millionaire Team member combine here in Malaysia. So the data from HERBALIFE here states very clearly that not all of them are making a lot of money.
Don't get angry with me. I am just presenting to you the FACTS. This is happening in America (as you can see on the earlier sheet), it's happening in Malaysia, it's happening all over the world.
Some people said to me,"If need so much time, effort and money to become a Supervisor, and my return is so low, better I find something else or just get a second job".
Well, you are entitle to your opinion. I am just here to present the FACTS to you. What you do with it is entirely up to you.
some other disturbing news about herbalife
By the way, did you know that HERBALIFE Founder Circle member, Mr. John Peterson killed himself on the 17th August 2013? He was the top distributor for 10 years in HERBALIFE. More news at :-

HERBALIFE USES SOY FOR IT'S FORMULA 1 AND FORMULA 3 products
OK, I know I am going to sound like I am attacking HERBALIFE again, however I am just stating the FACTS. You can choose to ignore the facts or learn to deal with it. Either way, it is your life, your family and your business. Guess what will happen to your customers and your love ones when they learn the truth? What will they think of you then when they know you have been hiding the truth from them? Facts will remain facts whether you like it or not. Do yourself and your love ones a big favor and read through everything first before you make a decision. At the end of the day, your decision only affects you and your love ones. I am OK with whatever you decide.
We know that HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 contains soy. Do you know there are many studies that shows that SOY is BAD for you?
MSG (monosodium glutamate) is added to Soy Protein Isolate = Excitotoxin = stimulates your brain cells till the point that they actually die. Also linked to Obesity, Cancer and Diabetes.
Soy Protein Isolate has twice the amount of IGF1 than cow's milk concentrate = IGF1 is likely the strongest cancer stimulator that human's consume. (IGF1 = Insulin-like growth factor)
More than 90 percent of all soybeans grown in the United States are genetically modified (GM) for herbicide resistance and are consequently sprayed with massive quantities of those toxic chemicals.

Reasons why I say HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 soy might be GE/GMO :-
Reason #1) 90% to 95% of soy in America are genetically modified (GM) or also known as genetic modified organism (GMO),
Reason #2) HERBALIFE did not issue a statement swearing that all their soy products are not GE/GMO
Reason #3) HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 did not state in it's label that it is GE/GMO free.
Reason #4) You have no proof that HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 are GE/GMO free.
Let's study this in detail.
Reason #1) HERBALIFE claims it sold over US$4 Billion in sales to 90 countries last year. So if 5% to 10% of soy in America are "non-GMO", how much of these were sold to HERBALIFE? If HERBALIFE managed to use only soy that are non-GMO, then it is SUPER INCREDIBLY good. So comes to the next point, why don't HERBALIFE put it on it's label? If all the soy that are used are GE/GMO free, then based on it's sale volume, HERBALIFE is probably the only company in the whole of America that uses soy that is free of GE/GMO. This is a fantastic feat. Don't you think that HERBALIFE would then use it as a marketing campaign to further strengthen it's sales and market share? HERBALIFE, a multi billion dollar company that's on NYSE, with offices in 90 countries, with it's President & CEO Mr. Michael Johnson won't use it as a marketing campaign? Are you nuts?
Reason #2 and #3) It is a LAW in America that if your product does contain GE/GMO, then you CANNOT put "non-GMO product" on your product label.
Reason #2 and #3) If your products are free of GE/GMO, then it is a very strong selling point for you when you put "non-GMO product" on your product label because consumers are now very educated and very much concern about GE/GMO products and are trying to avoid / minimize consuming it. So why would you not want to put it on your product label if your product is free of GE/GMO? For example, as a customer, if you are well informed about the dangers of GE/GMO products, and you are a person that is concern on your health, when you walk into a supermarket and you saw they are selling 10 different soy products. But only 1 state "non-GMO product" on it's label. Which would you buy?
Reason #4) Did you see with your own eyes how the farmer grow the soy from day 1 till the day the soy is harvested? If not, then how do you know the soy is not GE/GMO? HERBALIFE never says it's soy is free from GE/GMO. So why are you fighting and arguing that IT IS FREE from GE/GMO? Let's be realistic. This company does not belong to you or your parents. You are probably one of the 87% of Supervisors that are still struggling to be successful here. So why are you ignoring the facts and fighting for a company that is not paying you well? If you are one of the 79 person in HERBALIFE Malaysia that is earning over RM20,000 per month, then I understand why. But if you are not one of that 79 people, then why? I am just saying that base on facts, there is a 90% probability that the soy that is used in the Formula 1 and Formula 3 contains GE/GMO soy. Can you proof that I am wrong?
I have one question for you. If you go to a restaurant, and you heard that there is a 90% probability that you would end up with food poisoning eating there. Again, this is just what you heard. There is no solid concrete proof of it. Would you still take the risk and bring your love ones (parents, spouse, children, etc) go in and eat there? Seriously? So now based on facts that I presented to you above, there is a 90% probability that HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 contains GE/GMO. Are you still going to feed your love ones, friends and customers that trust you with their lives, with Formula 1 and Formula 3? Are you still going to do it just because you don't like what I wrote?
Here's another question that is thrown at my face. If HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 are GE/GMO, then why many of my customers and myself have good results, like more energy, improve health, etc. The answer is simple. All these while, for many years you have deprive your body from proper/sufficient nutrition. Maybe you were only getting 50% of the nutritions that your body needs. Now when you start to take the Formula 1, Formula 3, Tea Mix, Aloe Concentrate, Nite Works, Omega 3 Fish Oil, etc, you are giving proper/sufficient nutrition to your body, that is why you feel so much better. Logic? I am not here to argue with you that the products are bad. It is not. The products are great. Packed with may nutrition that can help people. All I am saying is that there is a 90% probability that the Formula 1 and Formula 3 contains GE/GMO in it's soy. I'll be extremely happy if you can proof with facts that I am wrong so that I know I have not been feeding my love ones with GE/GMO. Can you?
Some even argue with me that they have been taking HERBALIFE products for the past 20 to 30 years and yet they feel great. Well, it is possible that while Mark Hughes was around, from 1980 to 2000, that there were no GE/GMO in the Formula 1 and Formula 3 during that time. But today, it is a FACT that 90% to 95% of soy in America are GE/GMO and HERBALIFE Formula 1 and Formula 3 products does not say "non-GMO" on it's label. What does these information tells you?
Let me ask you another question. If you start smoking today, will you die today? The answer is "NO". If you continue to smoke for the next 10 to 20 years, will you die? Probably not. Is smoking good for you? Definitely "NOT". Do you agree on this? Well, same goes for GE/GMO products. If you eat it today, you won't die from it. But taking it daily on a long term basis is definitely NOT good for your health. These are FACTS. Do your research about the side effects of taking GE/GMO products on a long term basis. You will be shock with the discovery.
Last example before we can move on. I heard someone said,"Just because a man holding a gun was standing over a dead woman does not mean that the man is the killer. Well, if the gun he was holding was the murder weapon. Then how? The man have to proof that he is innocent right? Same thing here. Till HERBALIFE can proof that it's soy is free from GE/GMO, why do you want to eat it? Why would you want to give your love ones, friends and customer to eat it? Do you know if your child dies or suffer health problems because of it, it is YOU that needs to proof and fight against a Billion Dollar company? You want to take the risk? You think you can win? Why do you want to put yourself and your love ones at risk as guinea pig? What if I am right?
Are you aware that many HERBALIFE distributors and customers have negative side effects from taking the Formula 1 and Formula 3 products? Some get it almost immediately whereas some only get it months or years later.
Soy Protein Isolate (found in HERBALIFE shakes)
Source: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/06/10/9-unhealthy-foods.aspx
Sadly, most of what you have been led to believe by the media about soy is simply untrue. One of the worst problems with soy comes from the fact that 90 to 95 percent of soybeans grown in the US are genetically engineered (GE), and these are used to create soy protein isolate. Genetically engineered soybeans are designed to be "Roundup ready,” which means they’re engineered to withstand otherwise lethal doses of herbicide.
The active ingredient in Roundup herbicide is called glyphosate, which is responsible for the disruption of the delicate hormonal balance of the female reproductive cycle. What's more, glyphosate is toxic to the placenta, which is responsible for delivering vital nutrients from mother to child, and eliminating waste products. Once the placenta has been damaged or destroyed, the result can be miscarriage. In those children born to mothers who have been exposed to even a small amount of glyphosate, serious birth defects can result.
Glyphosate’s mechanism of harm was only recently identified, and demonstrates how this chemical disrupts cellular function and induce many of our modern diseases, including autism. Soy protein isolate can be found in protein bars, meal replacement shakes, bottled fruit drinks, soups and sauces, meat analogs, baked goods, breakfast cereals and some dietary supplements.
Even if you are not a vegetarian and do not use soymilk or tofu, it is important to be a serious label reader. There are so many different names for soy additives, you could be bringing home a genetically modified soy-based product without even realizing it. Soy expert Dr. Kaayla Daniel offers a free Special Report7, "Where the Soys Are," on her Web site. It lists the many "aliases" that soy might be hiding under in ingredient lists -- words like "bouillon," "natural flavor" and "textured plant protein."
Besides soy protein isolate, ALL unfermented soy products are best avoided if you value your health. Thousands of studies have linked unfermented soy to malnutrition, digestive distress, immune-system breakdown, thyroid dysfunction, cognitive decline, reproductive disorders and infertility—even cancer and heart disease.
The only soy with health benefits is organic soy that has been properly fermented, and these are the only soy products I ever recommend consuming. After a long fermentation process, the phytate and "anti-nutrient" levels of soybeans are reduced, and their beneficial properties become available to your digestive system. To learn more, please see this previous article detailing the dangers of unfermented soy.
Artificial Sweeteners (Aspartame is found in HERBALIFE Formula 1 Chocolate shakes)
Source: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/06/10/9-unhealthy-foods.aspx
Contrary to popular belief, studies have found that artificial sweeteners such as aspartame can stimulate your appetite, increase carbohydrate cravings, and stimulate fat storage and weight gain. In one of the most recent of such studies, saccharin and aspartame were found to cause greater weight gain than sugar.
Aspartame is perhaps one of the most problematic. It is primarily made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine. The phenylalanine has been synthetically modified to carry a methyl group, which provides the majority of the sweetness. That phenylalanine methyl bond, called a methyl ester, is very weak, which allows the methyl group on the phenylalanine to easily break off and form methanol.
You may have heard the claim that aspartame is harmless because methanol is also found in fruits and vegetables. However, in fruits and vegetables, the methanol is firmly bonded to pectin, allowing it to be safely passed through your digestive tract. Not so with the methanol created by aspartame; there it’s not bonded to anything that can help eliminate it from your body.
Methanol acts as a Trojan horse; it's carried into susceptible tissues in your body, like your brain and bone marrow, where the alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) enzyme converts it into formaldehyde, which wreaks havoc with sensitive proteins and DNA. All animals EXCEPT HUMANS have a protective mechanism that allows methanol to be broken down into harmless formic acid. This is why toxicology testing on animals is a flawed model. It doesn't fully apply to people.
